Eligibility
UNDER GRADUATION: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
ELIGIBILTY FOR ADMISSION
1. Qualification:
- Candidates should have passed the 2nd PUC/12th Grade Examination or equivalent examination, comprising the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as language and obtained a minimum of 50% in the aggregate marks of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% in the case of SC/ST of the Karnataka State).
- Candidate should also have minimum of 50% marks in Physics, chemistry and Biology taken together at the competitive entrance examination where such examinations are held for selection (40% in the case of SC/ST of the Karnataka State).
2. Age requirement: Candidate shall complete the age of 17yrs as on 31st December of the year in which the admission is sought.
3. Candidate shall qualify in the NEET with the requisite percentile score as notified by the Dental Council of India by its BDS revised regulation.
CERTIFICATES REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION:
Students seeking admission to fi rst year BDS course should submit the following documents/certificates in original at the time of admission.
1. Marks card/ Statement of the qualifying examination i.e PUC or 12th standard or equivalent exam.
2. Eligibility certificate issued by the university (applicable to the students from other Countries / State students.)
3. Transfer Certifi ates from the previous college or institution where the student last studied.
4. Migration Certificates in respect of students from other university.
5. No Objection Certificates from Ministry of External Aff airs, Government of India in case of foreign students.
6. Valid Visa copy in case of foreign students.
7. 10th standard examination marks card for age proof.

REGULATION FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS:
- Foreign national seeking admission shall make an application in the prescribed form to the Registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka along with necessary eligibility fee for the course and all the academic records in original or attested true copies for the consideration and issue of eligibility certificate.
- Foreign national students shall also appear in the National Entrance Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the CBSE in the relevant year of admission and obtain requitsite percentile as notified by the Dental Council of India for admission to the BDS Course.
- The eligibility certificate issued by the University to a foreign national shall not give any right for admission or guarantee for the seat. The certifi cate shall be valid for admission only to the academic year for which it is issued.
- No foreign national seeking admission to the course shall claim a student visa based on the eligibility certificate issued by the University. Only after production of the endorsement from the college, permitting the students admission, a student shall be eligible to claim a student visa.
- Foreign students should obtain “No Objection Certificate” from the Ministry of External Affairs and Health & Family Welfare (Dental Eduction), Government of India.
- Foreign students must have passed the 12th Grade Examination or its Equivalent Examination and obtained minimum of 50% aggregate marks or its equivalent grade in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and passed English language in the said examination. They shall obtain Equivancy Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities as per the guidleines of the Dental Council of India.
- No refund of eligibility fee shall be paid under any circumstances. In respect of matters not provided above, the provisions of the university regulations, statutes, ordinances and rules with regard to admission shall apply.
- Foriegn national shall have valid visa throughout their course period.
- Regular attdendance is compulsary for all the subejcts and required to have minimum of 75% to appear for the university examiantion. Students shall also appear in all the internal examinations conducted by the college.
POST GRADUATION : Master of Dental Surgery (MDS):
Eligibility for Admission:
- Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by DCI. They should have successfully passed their B.D.S. from an institution recognized by DCI, and must have completed or completing their internship by 30th of April of the relevant academic year.
- Foreign national students shall also qualfy in the National Entrance Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-MDS) in the relevant year of admission and obtain requitsite percentile as notified by the Dental Council of India for admission to the MDS Course.
- As per the Existing Post Graduate Regulation of Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test for eligibility and admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only.
- Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate Dental course in the Dental college, must possess recognized B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualifi cation and should have obtained permanent registration with the Dental Council of India, or any of the State Dental Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

- In the case of an Indian national with the recognized degree from Foreign University, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary/permanent registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies.
- Temporary/Permanent registration to such candidates shall be subject to the condition that the degree is duly registered in the country where the degree is obtained and is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority in India also.
- A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a recognised degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognised Dental College under section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualifi cation recognised by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council. Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental qualifi cation for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Course of any University in India. , provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college/ institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies;
- Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualifi cation and that his degree is recognised by the corresponding dental council or concerned authority.
- Foriegn national student shall have valid visa, Eligibility Certificate from the University, NoC from the External Afairs Ministray and Health & Family Welfare (Dental Education), Government of India, NoC / Temporary Registration by the Dental Council of India, Provisional Registration from the Karnataka State Dental Council.
